Please also visit the Hive Hosts who have giveaways and interesting posts of their own:

I have learned so much and got a few things running better on my blog since I have been part of this programme. I now have a few dozen new blogs I read regularly and am really happy to have been a part of this.

Huge thanks to Quilting Jetgirl for being my hive host and looking after us all so well. Thanks also to the other hosts without whom this would not be possible.

2015 New Quilt Bloggers Hop Week 2

It’s week 2 and so please can I encourage you to visit the blogs of my fellow Quantum Quilters hive members who are hopping this week:

Liz @LizzyClips Design

Allison @New Every Morning Patchwork and Quilting

Helen @Midget Gem Quilts

Sharla @Thistle Thicket Studio

I am learning so much from this experience; from our Facebook page where questions are asked and answers and tips given freely, from my hive and the emails we share, and from my critique group who have given me some excellent tips regarding my blog, most of which I still have to act on. I am also super thrilled to have found a bunch of new blogs to follow and to have “met” some really nice and cool quilters for the first time!

Look what I won! Soooo cool! I won this in the In-flight Quilt Along run by Tartan Kiwi. I am really stoked about this as I have had a hankering to try out Oakshott for ages but could never decide between all the colours. I’m going to make something really basic with this charm pack (maybe a patchwork pouch or a placemat) as I want to see how it sews together. The hand is very pleasant and compared to other shot cottons I have sewn with, the Oakshott seems to have a closer weave and not be so fragile. I will post once I have used it. And thanks to Juliet at Tartan Kiwi and Michael at Oakshott for the prize!

The second prize from the last month also involved Tartan Kiwi as I won three of her patterns in the 2015 Finish Along run by Adrienne at The Windy Side. I have chosen the lion, the robin and the ballet shoes and I look forward to making pillows for gifts from them.

It’s been a good run – I am not often a winner in these things, so I am very happy. And the third thing? Well, did you spot that new button over there on the right in the list of things I am doing in 2015?  That’s right, I applied and was accepted into the 2015 New Quilt Bloggers.

I am proud to have made this step and pleased to be part of the wider group as well as my smaller hive for some upcoming blog hops and an even smaller “tight four” for mutual blog critique. So you might see some changes over the coming months where I have picked up tips and learned tricks and generally responded to feedback. The programme (I call it that – I am not sure how else to describe it) began on 1 June and already there are a number of helpful blog posts up by the organisers:

Quilting Jet Girl (who is my hive leader)

Meadow Mist Designs

Late Night Quilter

Childlike Fascination

So watch this space!
